This is for the beer (although I we had food too) Great local brewpub serving a variety of beer, and more than just the popular hazy New England IPA. This my favorite was actually the Bock and the Farmhouse Ale, and I loved both so much. Very drinkable. Also ordered food which was a bit slow to receive but was tasty nonetheless. Food was good and comforting and enough sop up the alcohol but you come here for the beer and not the food. Tacos were good but standard and the fried pickle batter was again good but not earth-shattering. Loved that the black bean sliders were hand made but needed a bit more sauce. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable. Definitely a place to hit for a craft beer lover.
From the murals on the walls outside to the food and drinks..we loved Spencer Devon. I don't like beer but my husband and daughter do! I was pleasantly surprised when the server showed me the cocktail menu! I ordered the Old Fashioned...yum!! We ordered a couple of appetizers: the loaded nachos with chili and topped with pimento cheese, jalapenos and sour cream and the Reuben egg rolls with pastrami, swiss cheese and sauerkraut deep fried. Both were full of flavor and delicious.
This place has changed a lot, and for the better. I enjoyed the initial concept, have always loved the aesthetic and beer, but have not always liked the food menu. They finally have gotten their food to something that makes sense for the area. Granted, it took courage and heart to put pea soup on the menu in the very beginning, and to not have fries at the start was also very bold. I appreciate that they kept working on it, and still are. I hope they always keep it seasonal, fresh and local like they always have! Beers are always changing, there's always something new to try, and they have fun events that get the whole town involved in ways that not a lot of establishments do.
I drop in here whenever I'm in the Fredericksburg downtown area. I enjoy their beer selections. I have also enjoyed some of their appetizers/small plates. I will continue to visit.
Incredible service! Honest opinions about dishes and beer. They always treat me and friends that come in like family. The staff here is top notch! Also... the cooks are always willing to make changes with zero pain lol! "Can I get my wings cut?" ** y'all are the
